The
national youth directorate of the Honduran Red Cross has undertaken
a training and awareness programme for young volunteers to promote
non-discrimination and respect for diversity.
The programme aims to train youth leaders in the prevention of discrimination,
the various manifestations of diversity and the importance respect
for human differences in their work as volunteers.
Thirty-five young people from the northern region of Honduras took
part in the first workshop, where they shared experiences and addressed
issues such as the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and AIDS,
youth and violence, and youth and gender.
This training event will have a multiplying effect in the branches
of the young people who participated, contributing to disseminating
knowledge and awareness of these issues among young people throughout
the National Society.
