The International Federation divides the region into six sub-regions as follows:

West Africa - French speaking: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, Senegal, Togo

Central Africa - French Speaking: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Congo Democratic, Guinea Equatorial, Rwanda, Chad

West Africa - English Speaking: Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone

East Africa - English Speaking: Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda

North Africa - Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Libya

South Africa - Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania

The Africa region is represented within the Youth Commission by Badio Ousseynou (Senegal Red Cross), Romain Laïyabe Lare (Togo Red Cross) and Mawanda Shaban (Uganda Red Cross).
