joining the Red Cross:
When I was nine years old, I joined the most active club in
my primary school – the Red Cross club. Since then,
I have participated in local, national and international activities
including camps, workshops and trainings in first aid, project
planning and management, youth leadership, etc. I have also
served on various youth committees at branch level and national
level, lobbying and advocating for the needs of the young
people. Over the past six years, I have represented my National
Society and the Uganda Red Cross Youth internationally. My
interaction with youth of various National Societies both
in Africa and Europe has given me opportunity to learn a lot
and to become an activist for volunteers and youth at all
levels.
Expectations for the youth commission:
I have always believed that young people can make the right
choices and take their own decisions if empowered with the
necessary information. It therefore gives me great pleasure
to be a member of the Youth Commission and to advocate for
the youth, especially in my region, so that they can continue
to play a substantial role in the humanitarian efforts of
the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
