The Middle East and North Africa Region consists of 18 countries:
Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel,
Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi
Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
The second MENA youth meeting was held in Sana’a, capital of the Republic of Yemen, from the 8-13 June 2007. A new youth coordinating committee was elected.
In the Youth
Commission, the National Societies in the Middle East are included
in the Asia region, and represented by Nga Turua (Cook Islands Red Cross).
For North Africa, the African representatives are Ousseynou Badio (Senegal Red Cross), Romain Laïyabe
Lare (Togo Red Cross) and Shaban
Mawanda (Uganda Red Cross).
The first MENA youth meeting was
held in Damascus in June 2005. At this meeting a network was initiated
and a youth coordinating
committee elected.
