"We are the future, but above all the present..."

More than half of the volunteers of the RC/RC are youth. Here you can met a handful of young and involved young people, all participants of the International Youth Meeting in Tarragona, Spain, in September 2004.

How long have you been involved in the Red Cross/Red Crescent?
2 years
Why did you join?
The work that the Red Cross was doing inspired me. I heard about it from other Red Cross members and from teachers, and decided to join.
What is your best Red Cross/Red Crescent experience?
One really good thing is Arbour Day, when we plant trees to replace the forest. This started after the Korean War. A lot of trees were burned down during the war, and the replanting has been going on ever since. We do something good for the environment, and it is satisfying to see the results of our work as the trees are growing.
What are your hopes for our Federation of the future?
The Federation should coordinate the communication among the National Societies more actively, so that more people can share ideas and we can get a more closely acting organization.
