In Madagascar, Foulpointe and Soanierena Ivongo are two of the areas which are most at risk and also most affected by natural disasters. Red Cross youth volunteers took part in a disaster simulation this November.

Youth participation at the statutory meetings

During the General Assembly, Council of Delegates and International Conference which were held here in Geneva throughout the past two weeks, over 70 youth representatives attended the meetings. This is the highest level of youth participation in these meetings ever.

National Society youth programmes awarded

During this year’s General Assembly, the winners of this year’s “Youth together for humanity award” were honoured and presented with their prizes. The award which is divided into four categories, one per Global Agenda Goal is an initiative of the Youth Commission, and was first presented in 2005.

Atlantis III - A space to develop young humanity

The "Atlantis III" youth camp brought together 74 youth volunteers from 16 different National Societies from 29 July to 5 August. This was the third edition of the Atlantis camp, and the first time it has been held in Syria.

German Red Cross youth host cultural exchange

This summer, the German Red Cross played host to young Red Cross volunteers from Belarus, Latvia and Ukraine, for an opportunity to learn about each others cultures, and exchange knowledge. Over 70 young people attended.

Youth participation in Bangladesh floods relief operation
August 2007
It has been two months since early monsoon rains first inundated Bangladesh causing severe flooding and landslides. Red Crescent youth volunteers in local branches have assisted the affected people, and accompanied them to safer ground, and distributing emergency relief.

Korean "Global Leaders" meet Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

The Korean Red Cross selected 43 young members to participate in its "Global Leaders Project 2007." They had the opportunity to meet with Ban Ki-Moon at the headquarters of the United Nations, as well as a visit to the American Red Cross.

At the Fiaccolata this year, participants meet for several days and different activities take place. For the first time, Raid Cross was one of them and people of all ages played it. Through the game, they learned about IHL, humanitarian values and the effects of conflict from all sides.

Geneva, Friday, 8 June 2007, 9 am, the "Raid Cross" competition kicked off on Promenade Saint-Antoine! For an hour, 150 students from Genevan schools took on the role of humanitarian, civilian or solider, led by Genevan Red Cross facilitators.

Preventing
trafficking of human beings in Serbia

In Serbia, as in many other countries across the world, people
of all ages long to be somewhere else, and young people long
most of all, sometimes allowing themselves to end up in situations
they perhaps should have understood were dangerous. 300 Serbian
Red Cross (SRC) youth volunteers trained as peer education in
the counter-THB programme are now starting to spread what can
be life-saving information to their peers.
