Algeria: Wildfires

Forest fires in the north and north-east of Algeria in August and September 2021 claimed many lives and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, livelihoods and local ecosystems. This Emergency Appeal will enable the IFRC to support the Algerian Red Crescent in delivering assistance to 42,500 affected people over 12 months. The operation will focus on shelter, livelihoods and basic needs, health, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), protection, gender and inclusion (PGI) and disaster risk reduction (DRR)—as well as building the capacity of the National Society.
