About us

The International Federation is the world’s largest humanitarian organization with 190 member National Societies. We carry out relief operations to assist victims of disasters all over the world, and we contribute to strengthen the capacities of our member National Societies.

Each year around 250 million people are affected by disasters and 13 million people die from infectious diseases. Red Cross and Red Crescent programmes reach an estimated 160 million vulnerable people every year. These figures show the extent of our reach and the scale of our operations.

During emergencies, the need to respond quickly and efficiently is paramount. We are able to do this through our streamlined logistics and procurement services.

The International Federation is providing effective and high-quality procurement services to all members of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and eligible third-party customers. Key to this is our accreditation by the Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO) as a humanitarian procurement centre.

We endeavour to provide best value for money to all our customers through fair competition and transparent procedures.
