This update provides an overview of the activities and progress of the IFRC's Global Route-Based Migration Programme in its first year of operation from August 2021-2022.

Because the climate crisis will require mobilization of local efforts at an unprecedented scale, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) network is launching the Global Climate Resilience Platform, with the objective of catalyzing at least CHF 1 billion in investment and support for locally-led climate action that reaches the most vulnerable. The IFRC aims to build coherence between the humanitarian, development and climate change agendas whilst promoting and implementing integrated risk management approaches at the national and local level to increase overall resilience.

Global Route-Based Migration Programme 2025-2030

The IFRC's Global Route-Based Migration Programme is the IFRC's operationalization of its route-based approach, launched in 2021 and now extended through 2030. This is the updated programmatic document for delivering humanitarian assistance, protection, and humanitarian diplomacy along key migration routes across Africa, the Americas, Europe and Central Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa. Containing an epidemic before it spreads uncontrollably saves lives, protects livelihoods, and safeguards long-term development. National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies can play a key role in epidemic risk management through their vast network of local branches and volunteers.
