This month's update on the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN)provides an update on the ongoing Power to Be III campaign and how we're using powerful storytelling to raise awareness and understanding of people who have had to flee conflict.
Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) projects aim to increase the access of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to early weather warnings and risk information to save lives and livelihoods. This guidanceprovides advice and recommendations for how Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the IFRC can get involved in CREWS projects.
This policy sets out the key elements of the IFRC’s risk management, outlining the main principles behind our risk management framework. It communicates our structured approach to managing risk and establishes a common terminology across the organization, ensuring that we use risk management systematically to inform decision-making.

Six months of armed conflict in Ukraine have left overwhelming suffering, death and destruction—affecting millions. This report by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement looks at the growing humanitarian needs in Ukraine and surrounding countries and shows how the Movement has been supporting people since the very start. Since February 2022, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and 48 National Societies have worked together to: Providebasic assistance to 5 million people Improve access to clean water for 8 million people Reach718,000 people with health interventions Our humanitarian response is neutral, impartial and independent. The guide shares key findings from a partnership between the IFRC and the Iranian Red Crescent which ran from 2013-2016. The partnership aimed to support National Society activities in disaster risk reduction and disaster management, helping them respond to urban risks and build urban resilience in their communities. Annual Report for the IFRC's Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) in 2021. Key figures: In 2021 the DREF and the Forecast based Action (FbA) by the DREFallocated almost 42 million Swiss Francs toNational Societies to help them implement early actions, anticipate specific risks and respond to a wide range of emergencies. The fund supported 136 operations through 31 loans (that later became Emergency Appeals) and 105 grants. Collectively, National Societies reached more than 12 million people with DREF support.
The Green Response: Environmental Quick Guide explains the basics of green response and provides practical advice on how National Societies and partners can improve the environmental sustainability of their work and of their organizations as a whole. It includes examples of how different National Societies have 'greened' their operations to provide ideas and inspiration for others looking to improve their environmental impact. The IFRC and our 192 National Societies have provided shelter to disaster-affected populations for many decades. Our shelter and settlementsassistance methods vary greatly depending on the context, type of disaster, local capacities, scale and resources. But they all have a common goal: to save lives and set a path for communities to recover sustainably. This regional roadmap for the Americas provides an overview of National Society shelter and settlements work in recent years. And it provides recommendations, goals and strategic priorities for 2021-2025 so that our Americas Regional Office and National Societies can improve this work.
