The Secretary General is the Chief Executive Officer of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and directs the secretariat and our delegations around the world.
The IFRC Chief of Staff and Under Secretary General, People and Strategy, ensures the Secretary General can effectively discharge his statutory duties and key responsibilities at all times. He also oversees the Executive Office, Ethical Practices, Human Resources Management, Strategic Planning, and Global Security.
The Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization ensures that the IFRC network is well positioned and resourced and that the IFRC has a strong collective voice in influencing the humanitarian agenda.
The Under Secretary General for National Society Development and Operations Coordination ensures the IFRC supports strong and sustainable National Societies and fulfils our coordination and operational responsibilities within our Movement and broader humanitarian community.
The Under Secretary for Legal, Governance Support and Accountability has oversight across the Governance and Board Support Department, the Legal Department, Data Protection Office, Global Services Centre and Special Projects.
The IFRC has five Regional Directors for Africa, Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and Middle East and North Africa. Regional Directors oversee all IFRC assistance and advice to National Societies in their regions, ensure effective disaster risk management and encourage cooperation between members.

The Director of the Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI) provides leadership on the IFRC’s internal audit and risk management activities. She/he continually evaluates and suggests improvements to our internal controls and governance processes.
