With deep sadness, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) confirms the death of a Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) volunteer paramedic in the West Bank.

Tamer Jalal Muhammad Saqr died from serious injuries sustained when he was shot during a raid on the Balata camp east of Nablus on 27 July.  He was injured while evacuating wounded civilians after a house in the Balata camp had been hit by explosion, killing two people and injuring more than 20 others.

The IFRC sends its deepest condolences to Tamer Jalal Muhammad Saqr’s family, friends, and colleagues at the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the IFRC network has lost 27 members while on duty. 21 staff and volunteers of the Palestine Red Crescent Society have been killed, and six from Magen David Adom in Israel.

We are devastated at these losses.  Protecting humanitarian workers is a legal and moral obligation.

We call on all parties to take measures to protect humanitarian workers, and end the human suffering.
