This toolkit supports Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to prepare their volunteers to respond effectively and rapidly at the very start of an outbreak. While not exhaustive, the tools will familiarize volunteers with the most common diseases with epidemic potential. They encourage volunteers to apply evidence-based methods to control the spread of these diseases in their communities, care appropriately for the sick, and, in so doing, reduce mortality.
