Introduction to Green Response
Green response is a way in which we can approach our work to improve the environmental outcomes of humanitarian assistance. It minimizes harm caused to the local environment as well as reducing the global impact of the carbon emissions we generate. It can also adopt innovative solutions to have a positive impact on sustainability.

Global Health Security
In a safe and secure world, people anticipate, respond to, and quickly recover from crisis, lead safe, healthy and dignified lives, and have ample opportunities to thrive. The IFRC promotes community action to strengthen resilience, reduce risks and better prepare for disasters and crises such as natural hazards, epidemics, technological accidents, or population movement. The multi-hazard approach is pivotal for managing risks that are becoming more frequent and severe due to climate change, urbanisation, and emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. Our National Red Cross Red Crescent Societies are present before, during and after a crisis. As part of the communities they serve, they are able to engage their communities fully. They are the trusted partner of choice for local humanitarian action within a global network. Through their branches, the National Societies support communities in preventing and controlling diseases, reducing disaster risk, establishing early warning and early action mechanisms, maintaining readiness for various emergencies, and helping communities respond to them.
Saving lives at sea: Having an eye for an invisible tragedy
Since 2014, the Central Mediterranean has become the world’s deadliest migratory route. Over27,600 lives have been lost since then. In this document, the IFRC and SOS Mediterranee detail what they are doing in partnership to save lives of people shipwrecked while attempting to make the perilous central Mediterranean crossing. The document explains the live-saving impact of their fully equipped rescue ship and the Humanitarian Service Point at sea it offers to migrants in distress.
International Disaster Response Law in the Pacific: Summary and country profiles
Pacific Island countries are extremely vulnerable to climate change and natural hazards, which are major challenges for the development aspirations of the people of the Pacific and their environment. As such, it is critical that domestic laws and polices provide clear rules of the road to guide national and international humanitarian efforts.
This research report examines the legal preparedness for international disaster assistance across the 16 English-speaking member states of the Pacific Islands Forum. Individual country profiles for each of these states are also available in the report below.
Home-Based Care Reference Guide for CHWs during COVID 19
This guide provides recommendations to nonprofits, the Red Cross Red Crescent network and community organizations who are designing programs and materials in response to COVID-19 in low- and middle-income countries. It focuses on three main areas:

Rights of Migrants in Action: Global Findings on Human Rights of Migrants, Human Trafficking and Domestic Labour Migration
Rights of Migrants in Action was a global project that aimed to protect and promote the rights of migrants while harnessing the knowledge and building the capacity of civil society organizations (CSO).
The project focused on promoting the rights of and improving access to services for migrant domestic workers (MDWs) and victims of human trafficking, as these are particularly vulnerable groups. Working in 15 countries along migration corridors, it reflected, from a national and regional perspective, the challenges faced by migrants, their families, governments and service-providing organizations.
Operational framework for involvement in migrant health and care services
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is committed to addressing the needs and vulnerabilities of migrants. We do all we can to support vulnerable migrants and offer them humanitarian assistance, regardless of their legal status.
This framework offers guidance to Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on whether and how to get involved in providing health programmes for migrants in their country. It also provides direction for the development of country-specific plans of action on migrants' health.
