Guidance for National Society Statutes

The Guidance for National Society Statutes (2018) is our key guiding resource to support National Societies to develop, review and revise their statutes and other relevant regulatory or policy base texts. Doing so can help them to carry out their humanitarian mandates and roles effectively and in accordance with the mission and Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The guidance document is available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Russian. An addendum to the Guidance Document has been adopted to support National Societies in conducting and performing their governance functions (meetings, e-elections, voting, disciplinary processes, handling of complaints, etc.) remotely. National Society Development Framework

The purpose of this framework is to capture the basic principles of National Society development. It is intended to guide leaders from National Societies responsible for making decisions that will affect the futures of their organizations. Annual Report 2020

The critical value of the IFRC network to local communities was demonstrated again in 2020 and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The 192 National Societies and the IFRC acted rapidly to the global crisis while responding to other emergencies, reducing vulnerabilities, and working with communities to live healthier and more dignified lives.

The legal framework for migrants and refugees

This leaflet provides Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteers with a basic introduction to the legal framework applicable to migrants and refugees. In particular, this leaflet aims to explain why a person fleeing persecution, armed conflict or massive violations of human rights in his or her country may be recognized as a refugee in some regions or countries but not in others.
