NSIA Annual Report 2023

This Annual Report outlines the activities and progress of the National Society Investment Alliance (NSIA) in 2023. The NSIA promotes the sustainable development of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies in fragile contexts. The report highlights several emerging impacts towards positive transformation of National Societies and on the local humanitarian situation. The NSIA is a joint investment fund of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

National Society Financial Sustainability Framework

The National Society Financial Sustainability Framework aims toclarifythe conceptual framework and dimensions of National Society Financial Sustainability, their interrelatedness and complementarity, and the relationship between those and other areas of National Society Development (NSD). In doing so, itseeks to alignthe IFRC membership, the Movement and external partners on National Society Financial Sustainability through a common conceptual frame and language. It is also a resource tosupportNational Societies’ and IFRC leadership to improve financial sustainability by identifying critical issues, taking informed decisions and appropriate actions and tracking progress and learning, all whilst maintaining flexibility, adaptability and risk-taking.

Baseline Basics

This guide is intended to support National Societies and other IFRC project teams and partners conduct reliable and useful baseline studies that help better measure and deliver services to those in need. It is meant to be succinct, but with enough information to practically guide the user to plan for and implement a baseline study, pointing to additional resources for further reference.

Capacity Building Fund Report 2023

This report details the 2023 activities and expenditures of the IFRC Capacity Building Fund, which supports Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies in their self-development through financial support and the facilitation of technical knowledge sharing from peer National Societies and IFRC experts. Its ultimate goal is for National Societies to increase the scale, quality and sustainability of their humanitarian services.

IFRC-DREF Annual Report 2023

Discover how IFRC-DREF is making a difference around the globe through locally led actions. The year 2023 was marked by substantial strategic, operational, and procedural changes, propelling the Fund’s evolution and scale-up. Significant steps have been taken to ensure the Fund is easily accessible for National Societies through tools and mechanisms that also help manage risks, ensure compliance, and maintain a high level of accountability.

Regular Resources Report 2023

Unearmarked funds, which we call regular resources, are critical to the IFRC’s work. They ensure that we can carry out our core roles of strategic and operational coordination, National Society development and humanitarian diplomacy, all underpinned by accountability and agility.This report demonstrates the impact that regular resources had on the work of the IFRC network in 2023. This includes examples of the contribution of regular resources at global, regional and country levels, profiles of some of the IFRC’s country-level delegations, and five case studies.This report was released alongside our Annual Report 2023.

Counting People Reached

This technical note provides guidance for measuring the number of people reached by services provided by Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies and the IFRC. This includes services provided in an emergency operations or development programming, or as part of overall National Society of IFRC Secretariat annual reporting.

Case Study: 2023 Türkiye Earthquakes / IFRC-TRC Livelihoods Recovery Programme

This case study provides details regarding the results of the IFRC-Turkish Red Cresent Livelihoods Recovery Programme launched in response to the earthquakes that caused massive loss of life and damage to homes and businesses in February 2023.

Safe Homes Case Studies — One Page Summaries

This document offers one-page summaries of case studies developed within the Safe Home Programme, which helped Ukrainian refugees find temporary accommodation in private homes in eight countries – Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, France, and Slovakia. These countries experienced significant arrivals of people displaced from Ukraine, which presented both challenges and opportunities in arranging, adjusting, developing, and implementing hosting assistance programmes and initiatives.

Safe Homes: Key Lessons From Hosting People Displaced From Ukraine In Private Homes

This comprehensive report shares key lessons learnt during the Safe Homes Programme, which helped Ukrainian refugees find safe shelter in private homes throughout Europe following the escalation of conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 2022. The document includes insights from eight European Red Cross National Societies that participated in the programme, as well as partner agencies, government authorities, organisations, host families and refugees. Most importantly, it offers a blueprint for the preparation and implementation of future humanitarian responses to mass population movements.

Safe Homes — Case Studies

This document outlines the priorities and key operational components of non-communicable disease programming for the IFRC network. It also details the IFRC strategy for prevention, control, management, care and access to services — for everyone at all times, in all contexts.

Project/Programme Planning Guidance Manual

The aim of this guidance manual is to introduce the user to project/programme planning in a Red Cross Red Crescent environment. It describes the different stages of the planning phase of the “project/programme cycle” within the context of Results-Based Management (RBM).

IFRC Integration and Inclusion Framework — Europe and Central Asia

The IFRC Integration and Inclusion Framework (Europe and Central Asia) provides comprehensive guidance for Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies in Europe, offering a common approach and language for staff and volunteers engaged in integration and inclusion activities. It also provides a practical tool to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives aimed at supporting migrants in vulnerable situations.
