All 192 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are involved in first aid. Collectively, our network reaches millions of people every year with first aid education, training and services at the community level. This policy aims to support National Societies in the provision of quality first aid education, including by promoting the use of innovation and technology to help address gaps and reach even more communities.
In August 2022, we conducted a series of focus group discussions with applicants to the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) programmeto learn more about their livelihoods and wellbeing. We also published an evaluative learning study about the current socio-economic challenges faced by refugees in Türkiye and how the ESSN is helping them to cope.
Zika, dengue and chikungunya are all mosquito-borne diseases. They can be prevented when communities know how to keep themselves safe. In July 2022, a post distribution monitoring report found that people supported through the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) programme continue to struggle with the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We also made some adjustments to the programme targeting criteria in July 2022 in order to minimize inclusion and exclusion error.
