The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is supported by five constitutional commissions and committees which review and advise upon different areas of our work. Composition and functions of our commissions and committees are described in Section IV of our Constitution.

Note on elections and appointments
In sessions of the General Assembly which alternate with that of the elections of the President, Vice-Presidents and representatives from 20 National Societies (mentioned above), the member National Societies elect the members of the Youth Commission by means of an electronic voting system, and appoint the members of the Finance Commission, the Audit and Risk Commission, the Compliance and Mediation Committee and the Election Committee.

Seeking independent members of Audit and Risk Commission and Election Committee
The IFRC seeks candidates for appointment as independent members of the following governance bodies for a 2-year term, starting 2 December 2026:
- One (1) member of the IFRC’s Audit and Risk Commission
- Two (2) members of the IFRC’s Election Committee
Appointed members are required to participate in regular online meetings and may also be required to travel for meetings. While the positions are unpaid, travel expenses and per diems for travel periods are covered.
