The International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC), along with the Spanish, French, and Kenya Red Cross Societies, is transforming how we manage volunteer data globally with our Volunteer Data Management System (VDMS). This system streamlines volunteer operations, helping us better serve communities in need.
VDMS simplifies the management of volunteer onboarding, engagement, accreditation, and insurance processes. It saves time, improves the volunteer experience, and supports quick decision-making. With tools for event registration, mass communication via email, SMS, and WhatsApp, as well as advanced reporting features, VDMS enhances volunteer coordination and ensures we meet the needs of both volunteers and communities.

To successfully adopt the VDMS, your National Society needs to commit to the following:
Leadership Commitment: A written commitment from your leadership supporting the implementation.
Dedicated Focal Point: Appoint a focal point to oversee the implementation, committing at least 40 hours over 6 weeks.
Basic IT Infrastructure: Ensure availability of computers, internet access, and a domain name.
Volunteering Procedures: Basic procedures should be in place, or a plan to develop them.
Language Proficiency: Staff should be proficient in English, French, or Spanish.
Data Privacy and Security: Compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
Availability of Funds: Secure necessary funding or explore potential grants. (Deployment costs range from €20,000 to €25,000 and yearly maintenance costs — storage, emails, volunteer portal, 24 support hrs. — are approximately €4,400 from the second year onwards).
